Mary from Dungloe

mary from dungloe festival

The Mary from Dungloe International festival has been running since 1967 and while it may seem to bear a resemblance to the Rose of Tralee this festival is in a class of its own.

Dungloe which lies just 25 minutes north of Edenvale Bed & Breakfast in the Donegal Gaeltacht area known as the Rosses. This is an area where Gaelic is the first language and it forms a social and cultural region different from the rest of the county.

The Mary from Dungloe festival is an annual 10 day festival at the end of July start of August.  Offering something for all of the family with street entertainment, sporting activities, live concert and a general carnival atmosphere this is an event that will not disappoint.

The highlight of the festival is the selection and crowing of the Mary from Dungloe by our very own Daniel O’Donnell .

The festival has grown massively over the years and attracts thousands annually from home and overseas.
